04 Nov Get Ready for the 2022 Noosa Triathlon
The Noosa Tri has been an institution on the Noosa Crest calendar for almost forty years, and over that time has developed into an international event: it is now the largest Olympic distance triathlon in the world and is consistently ranked in the global top-10 triathlons by athletes. This year, Tokyo Olympian and Gold Coast local, Ashleigh Gentle took out the culminating women’s race for the eighth time, while Luke Willian took out first in the men’s for his first Noosa Tri win. Watching these athletes in action is absolutely inspiring, but perhaps what makes this running, biking and swimming extravaganza so popular however, is that it isn’t just for the fitness elite.
Held over five days with ten events ranging from the Sunday’s main triathlon itself to short fun runs, long ocean swims, elite cycle races, a triathlon aimed just for kids and another beautiful race for those with special needs, no one is left out of the action. With all the swims taking place in Laguna Bay or along Noosa River, the running courses flat and the cycles taking in our beautiful Hinterland, no one in the family will even notice huffing and puffing! There’s also a Sports and Lifestyle Expo held in the Noosa Woods, though for guests at Noosa Crest, you just need to stroll down our private boardwalk to get in amongst the action.
Situated at the top of Noosa Hill, Noosa Crest is the perfect location for those competing in the festival events or anyone wanting to feel the incredibly inspiring atmosphere. With parking at a premium (read: very little) on the streets around the Noosa Lions Park and the Noosa Tri hub, being this close with the option of easily popping over into Noosa Junction is simply wonderful. Sitting back on your Noosa Crest balcony and watching the sunset on an invigorating day out amongst our natural beauty is even better!
For non-competitors, the festival atmosphere permeating Noosa at this time is quite simply electric. Maybe it’s the anticipation and nerves of the competitors, the high energy music to be heard from the festival village or the roar as incredible athletes of every creed and calibre cross the finish line… it’s a magical environment to be in. Everyone walks a little straighter and with greater purpose, and those splashing about amongst the waves do so with a little more form.
Be warned though: 2022 heralds the opening of Queensland’s borders to our wonderful interstate competitors, people who’ve been watching on from the lockdown states, polishing bikes and relacing shoes. Accommodation will book out quickly for the Noosa Tri 2022 dates.
Don’t miss out on Noosa Crest’s enviable position overlooking the Noosa Tri: book your accommodation from the 26th– 30th of October 2022 now.
