24 Mar Dining along Noosa main beach
Does anything say ‘holiday’ more than a gourmet breakfast, long lunch or three course meal overlooking endless sparkling water and golden sand? No, we didn’t think so either. For our Noosa Crest guests, dining beachside is a revered past time, with options on Main Beach for satiating thirst and hunger abundant.
At the top end and nestled into the eastern corner of Main Beach is Sails, a high-end restaurant with a meteoric reputation: every local knows this is the place to win over (or smooth over) that special someone. Specialising in a creative fusion of modern Australian cuisine, the menu represents a cultured walk around the country, with a distinctive Sunshine Coast focus. The wine list is award winning (there are no less the three cellars on site) but it is the view that is the veritable cherry on top of any dining experience here. With classically understated décor framing the 180 degree views out onto Laguna Bay and Noosa North Shore beyond, Sails is a luxurious dining experience second to none in Noosa. As such, bookings are required well in advance to secure a table and you’d better iron that shirt.
A few hundred metres down the boardwalk is Bistro C, another Noosa dining icon offering uber cool vibes with your Aperol Spritz and stunning beach and water views. Open all day, the menu here is seasonal and again, locally focused but with mod-Asian influences. A delicious cocktail and extensive wine list completes a spectacular coastal dining experience, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and dinner all catered for with precision and deliciousness. With a number of seating options including outdoors, this is also an excellent option for families. Child friendly, and with an enormous sandpit across the boardwalk within supervision distance of your table, both parents and little ones can enjoy their best life at lunch.
Right next door is Boardwalk Bistro offering a more intimate dining experience with a few wonderful extras. Love gin? The gin (and cocktail) selection here is spectacular and a must for anyone looking to ease into the afternoon. Are oysters your thing too? Happy Hour Oysters are another Boardwalk Bistro mainstay urging patrons to stay a little longer. The menus from breakfast to dinner feature bistro mainstays, whilst innovative plating, attention to detail and quite simply, great food make dining here a stand out. Again, beautiful views out to Laguna Bay and the sea breeze ruffling the palm trees outside while delicious food and drink find their way to your table make for wonderful holiday memories. And if you can’t get a table (it’s busy- book!) the Boardwalk Bistro Kiosk stocks lots of beach-ready goodies as well as takeaway coffee.
Situated at the far end of the boardwalk, Seasons is yet another excellent Noosa icon serving up high end food in a high end location. With cool coastal chic décor and a casual (think white linen) vibe, Seasons is the perfect option for a relaxed lunch or cocktail after a morning on the beach. Open for breakfast through till dinner and catering to every need in between, this is another local favourite but without feeling like you need to starch your shorts. Unsurprisingly, seasonal flavours (see what we did there?) are the order of the day, with a changing menu and the sprinkling of Asian influence over the predominantly mod-Australian cuisine making for a mouth-watering selection of dishes served with finesse. If you feel like languid and long lunch after a morning enjoying Noosa’s Main Beach before you head back to Noosa Crest, Seasons’ combination of salt air, blue water views and luxuriously delicious menu will do the job very nicely. Children are welcomed by friendly, local staff.
Of course, if you’re after a burger and chips without the cloth napkin, the Noosa Surf Club is an all day option perfect for those wanting to laud it over the plebs still on the beach. With a great Surf Club menu, lots of beer and wine options and of course, that spectacular view from almost every seat in the house, this family friendly venue is a fantastic cure to the hungry angrys (hangrys) or just a thirst that needs slaking, now.
And the second best part? Regardless of which restaurant you go for, whether it’s the highest of high end, uber cool, intimate, relaxed and long or a quick something after a swim, you’re always only a short walk up Noosa Crest’s private boardwalk to your accommodation. The best part is arriving to your apartment, full of deliciousness and welcomed to that view again but on a grander scale, from your very own balcony.
