Its that time of year where we celebrate living near the beach by having one of the biggest Longboard events in Noosa. The Noosa Festival of Surfing is in its 20th year and I have to say is getting better and better each year.
Noosa Crest has been sponsoring the event each year, hosting well known surfers from all over the world. Multiple world champions Layne Beachley and Mark Richards starred in the welcoming exhibition, with special guest Barry “Magoo” McGuigan, the oldest competitive surfer in the world.
The festival had its first ever Stand Up Paddle race on main beach and attracted hundreds of people to first point. Noosa’s own Laguna Bay Longboards sponsored the division which was keeping with the tremendous growth of stand up around the world.
There are lots of events happening other then surfing for the event including market stalls, concerts, childrens concerts and surf expo’s to name a few. If you are thinking of heading to Noosa, this weekend is the finals and a great event to be apart of.
