Holidaying in Family Friendly Noosa.

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

If you are looking for fun in the sun with your family we recommend you pack your bags and head for Noosa. Noosa Heads is one of the most family friendly destinations in
Queensland, not only for the spectacular natural attractions but also for the diverse range of activities available and the variety of accommodation styles on offer.

Key to the popularity of Noosa Heads is the beautiful weather all year round. In the heat of summer it is always possible to cool down with a quick dip in Laguna Bay and enjoy the sea breezes, particularly if you stay on the water somewhere in Noosa.

In winter and the shoulder seasons there are plenty of sunny days for the family to enjoy allowing families to get outside and enjoy all there is on offer. Daytime temperatures in winter are often in the low 20’s and the water temperature in the high teens.

Another draw card to Noosa Heads for Families is it’s accessibility for Queensland and interstate visitors alike. Driving to Noosa is an easy drive along the Bruce Highway and is only a little over an hour from Brisbane’s Northern Suburbs.

The family road trip cry of “Are we there yet?” hardly gets a chance to get started. Families arrive in Noosa before they know it and quickly relax into the charming vibe that Noosa offers. Noosa is only half an hour away from the Sunshine Coast  Airport making it easy for families to fly direct from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Bus and train services also provide access to the area for those families who prefer to use public transport. Transfer services are available from both the airport and train stations at Nambour and Corooy.

No doubt the kids will want to hit the beach or the pool straight away, allowing parents the chance to unwind and enjoy the spectacular views. Of course this will all work up an appetite.

Fortunately for families visiting Noosa, The Hastings Street precinct offers a huge range of cuisine allowing for families to sit down for a meal or enjoy a quick bite followed up by an ice cream. For families who prefer to self cater, all the major supermarkets can be found in Noosa as well as a number of specialty shops and smaller  supermarkets making shopping a breeze for all those pre-dinner nibbles around the pool.

The area also has wonderful produce which can be picked up during one of your day trips from Noosa Heads.

Staying in a resort is a wonderful option for a family holiday as there are so many facilities and activities on offer for the whole family to enjoy. For those who enjoy the active life, Noosa offers wonderful walking tracks and boardwalks allowing families to spend quality time together while taking in the pristine scenery, all within easy access to your resort. Other family members may prefer to soak up the sun on the resorts sundeck, enjoy a spa or a sauna or simply unwind in one of the resort pools. Fortunately Noosa offers many family friendly activities to enjoy.

If your family likes to keep busy then you are in luck as Noosa Heads offers many outdoor activities for you to participate in. Water activities are always popular. Try your hand at surfing, paddle boarding or jet skiing. Also popular are the river and wetland cruises: the sunset cruises are a particular favourite. There are also many day trips for the whole family to enjoy just a short distance from Noosa Heads.

Some major attractions in the area include Australia Zoo, Underwater World and The Buderim Ginger Factory. For nature lovers a day trip to visit the Coloured Sands of Rainbow Beach will be an unforgettable experience. Fortunately your resort will have a tour desk making it very easy to organize all your day tours.

At the end of the day you will be glad watch the beautiful sunset over the hinterland and bay and unwind in your spacious apartment or relax by the pool and BBQ area. These days’ apartments are designed with families in mind with one, two, three or even four bedroom apartments available depending on the number of people in your family.

Fortunately apartments have all the modern amenities and wifi is available for those family members who need their device time. In our busy and hectic lives, holidaying with the whole family allows us time to reconnect with our children and our partner and to take a step back and appreciate those people in our lives who are the most important.

For many arriving in Noosa Heads is an instant stress relief where you literally breathe in the fresh air and leave the worries of the world behind you for awhile. What’s more Noosa Heads is addictive. Visitors to the area simply can’t get enough. No doubt you and your family will find yourself coming back for repeat visits for many years to come.

If you haven’t already heard, Noosa’s putting on a new fresh face for summer with a new wave of exciting bars and restaurants heading this way.  Next time you’re in Noosa, you have to check out these new faces……

*Noosa Beach House Peter Kuruvita – Right in the heart of Hastings Street, replacing Catos Bar at the Sheraton, this is really fresh, clean and beachy with a relaxed vibe in the bar for cocktails and all day dining or seriously delicious Sri Lankan inspired cuisine in the restaurant.

*Locale – Noosa recently sadly said goodbye to the fabulous Italian institutuion that was Lindonis but the owners have just launched their new baby – Locale. Located down at the Paris end of Hastings Street, this well designed modern Italian Trattoria is offering relaxed dining and a great wine bar.

*Miss Moneypenny’s – on the site of the old Ma Mensa on Hastings Street, this sprawling new cocktail bar-restaurant opens on 01 November and offers a fun atmosphere and funky cocktails for those coming straight off the beach or heading out in style.

Noosa is still heaven for foodies with plenty to offer on and off Hastings Street. Noosa Junction with it’s relaxed vibe, eclectic shops and cafes has been given a facelift as has parts of Gympie Terrace at Noosaville.  The fabulous Noosa Farmers Markets are still a ‘must do’ for anyone visiting Noosa to stock up on the freshest local fruit and veggies and those amazing Noosa Red tomatoes,Gympie Goats Cheese, Essential Grain breads, Noosa Spanner Crabs and so so much more!

It’s hotting up in Noosa but there’s a fresh vibe in the air, perfect swell and lots of fresh new faces to meet!

Noosa’s a Winter Wonderland

By | accommodation noosa, beach holiday, Beach holidays, Blog, Family holidays, Hastings street, Laguna Bay, Noosa Accommodation, Noosa Apartments, Noosa Crest Resort, Noosa food, Noosa Hill, Noosa Hinterland, Noosa Resort, Noosa restaurants, Noosa River, Noosa shopping, Romantic escapes, Uncategorized | No Comments

It’s winter?  Seriously? This is end of another perfect winter day in Noosa. A winter wonderland with a difference!

True…it is cooler, especially at night and those mornings can be a challenge to get to the beach for that morning walk or swim but seriously! It’s 22 degrees during the day and the temperature really only plummets to 12 degrees on the coolest nights. Not exactly freezing…right!

The locals may be rugged up in coats and boots but the visitors are out on the beach in force, frolicking in the waves, surfing, swimming and having fun. Even the little ones are out there on their boogie boards totally oblivious to the fact that it’s winter!

We think this is absolutely the best time to visit Noosa and here’s why:

*It’s peaceful. No crowds, parking is not an issue – on the street or for yourself on the beach, nor is getting into your fav restaurant or getting a room at a great price.

*Shop and café staff are more attentive and relaxed and are genuinely happy to see you and serve you. And best of all, there are bargains to be had!

*The beach is perfect…unspoilt by crowds and the water is calm and crystal clear. Fish everywhere! Noosa’s North Shore is at its best – so it’s a great time to head up the beach in your 4WD and enjoy a spot of fishing.

*Most days are clear and sunny and finish with stunning sunsets – like the one above. Sometimes it rains but not often (and when it does it’s your excuse to curl up on the lounge with your book and a hot chocolate).

*Wildlife spotting is better. The koalas seem to appear more often in the National Park and the brush turkeys are everywhere and the birdlife is amazing, everything seems to come to life.

*The cool weather is perfect for hiking the National Park or Noosa Hill or even exploring the mountain ranges, and for long bike rides out to quaint hinterland towns or down the scenic coast road.  It’s also perfect for throwing on a jacket and strolling to your restaurant of choice for a luscious glass of red with your pork belly or Osso Buco.   And, for finding a sunny spot on the grass for a lunchtime picnic in the Woods, the Lions Park or along Gympie Terrace.

*And best of all….it’s perfect weather for snuggling up with your loved one and enjoying those romantic sunsets.

We love Noosa in winter and so will you.  Let us know if you have had any special winter moments in Noosa.

Keep warm!

Noosa said ‘YES’!

Noosa Beach

Noosa is on the brink of a new chapter!

This weekend, over 80% of Noosa people voted YES to de-amalgamate from the Sunshine Coast Council and to once again take up the right to control their own destiny.

Partying in the street, cheering, flag flying, everybody smiling, hugging and kissing each other. Congratulations all round!  We can breathe again.

Noosa recently received a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the polls and cast their vote to stay within the boundaries of the super city that is the Sunshine Coast or split and go it alone – back to previous Noosa Shire boundaries and personalised, community governance. This in itself was an incredible achievement, made possible only because of a dedicated and hugely passionate group of Noosa people who have worked tirelessly and diligently for 5 years to bring about this process. After that, it was up to the people of Noosa to decide, and decide they did!

Everyone that loves and enjoys Noosa for what it is should be eternally grateful for their efforts.

People power has spoken – it’s an amazing thing when it happens! Gives you the faith that if you truly believe in something and are passionate and focussed and dedicated to the cause – great things can be achieved and wrongs can be righted, even against huge odds.

When Noosa and other Qld councils were forced to relinquish their right to govern themselves 5 years ago in an undemocratic act of breathtaking arrogance by the Beattie/Bligh government, Noosa said ….‘WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP!’ and they didn’t. Noosa along with Douglas Shire, Mareeba Shire and Livingstone Shire have all fought long and hard and have all now forged back the right to make local decisions for their local community and to manage their own destiny. They are not cities.  They are all about community, not bureaucracy! Bigger is not always better.

The road ahead to independence will certainly not be easy but the challenges in achieving local democracy will always be worth the effort so that we can return to genuine local decision making and community engagement, and all those people that love Noosa can continue to enjoy its unspoilt beauty and special charm now and forever.

Congratulations Noosa!
